What you will do

Are you ready to take the next step in your career? In the Sr. HR Generalist position you will report directly to the Regional Canadian HR Manager and partner with a team of HR Generalists who support an overall population of 4,000 employees in Canada. We are a small but mighty Canadian team in a very large and complex international organization with over 100,000 employees around the world. Your role will directly support ~700 employees across multiple business units, providing day to day guidance and coaching to all levels within the organization, both Union and Non-Union population.

*This is a remote position but the individual must be located within commuting distance of an existing JCI office, preferably in Ontario, Quebec or Alberta.

How you will do it
  • Leverages the full capabilities of the HR organization by partnering with a variety of COE's (Centers of Expertise) shared service centers, business HR and compliance
  • Consults on a variety of complex employee relations issues such as corrective actions, policy violations, performance, and collective bargaining agreement issues.
  • Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous situations and adapt quickly to change, as well as guide varying levels of the organization through change
  • As a Sr HR team member provide, coaching within the HR team and to others within the organization
  • Is sought after by the broader HR Solutions and Services team, HR Business partner team and COE's to discuss current or future needs
  • Identify workforce and hiring plans necessary to drive recruiting staff to develop strategy for recruiting top caliber employees; in partnership with Talent Acquisition
  • Lead and participate organizational change / continuous improvement initiatives from design through implementation.
  • Present HR programs to customer groups and employees.
  • Manages issues in union and non-union environment.
  • Leverages reputation as a neutral and approachable HR professional to identify the best solution based on the situation.
  • Partner with leaders to assess current talent and develop long term talent strategies that establish required competencies and skill levels and that ultimately improve the performance of the organization.
  • Develop and implement processes to facilitate organization changes and support with appropriate change management processes.
  • Lead and participate in projects
  • Respects differences and promotes inclusion on an organizational level

What we look for

Required
  • College diploma or University degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent work experience required
  • CHRP, CHRL, CPHR, or other or similar HR designation preferred
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive HR Generalist related experience, with at least 3 years of labour relations experience
  • Prior experience in supporting large, remote workforces - you have not only embraced the new work from home status but mastered the work / life balance it requires
  • Ability to adjust, pivot and reassess when faced with numerous and competing priorities
  • Experience delivering sensitive and difficult communications to employees and leadership
  • Working knowledge of relevant workplace laws, legal rulings and regulations in multiple regions in Canada.
  • Strong employee relations skills and business management coaching
  • Ability to influence without authority
  • Capable of managing through conflict while maintaining strong relationships with stake-holders
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement mindset and familiarity with continuous improvement practices
  • Exceptional organizational, interpersonal and oral/written communication skills are essential
  • Bilingual (English / French) preferred but not required
  • Less than 15% travel may be required
