Please Note: This is a teleworking position (except for performing regular site visits to the programs, visiting the Administration office to complete necessary tasks that cannot be performed remotely, conducting in-person trainings, and attending in-person meetings). However, at the discretion of the Supervisor and depending on the needs of the organization, work location and schedule adjustments can occur.

We provide outreach, hospitality, health care, case management, housing, job placement services, and advocacy.

Summary:

Under the leadership of the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, the Senior Human Resources Generalist (SHRG) is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Human Resources Department, while ensuring compliance with all Federal and State employment laws and record keeping requirements. Moreover, this position has a heavy focus on Learning & Development, Employee Relations, and Employee Engagement and Retention. The SHRG directly supervises the Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator position.

Experience and Skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Human Resources Administration & Operations
  • Manages day-to-day Human Resources Administration and Operations.
  • Assists Supervisors/Managers and general employees with HR Questions.
  • Assists the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer with HR Program Management.
  • Manages the background check/screening/credential tracking and updates process.
  • Conducts HR reporting.
  • Manages HR file retention and conducts HR file audits; this includes contractor file management.
  • Under the direction of the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, ensures adherence to the HR Department budget.
  • Reviews HR programs for effectiveness/relevance, and provides the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer with recommendations to address opportunities in the identified areas.
  • Supports all HR Department Logic Model initiatives.


Recruitment & Selection
  • Manages the Recruitment & Selection function; this includes oversight for contractor requirements.
  • Recruits for assigned programs/divisions, and provides support to Hiring Managers for candidate selection, etc.
  • Manages the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) and provides Hiring Managers with training (as needed).


Onboarding & Orientation
  • Manages the HR Onboarding function.
  • Manages New Employee Orientation.
  • Participates in the New Employee Orientation session by facilitating and presenting assigned topics.


Learning & Development
  • Assists the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer with managing the organization's internal Learning & Development program.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, develops and facilitates trainings to support current and future workforce education needs.
  • In conjunction with the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, manages general employee Learning & Development initiatives.
  • Assists the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer with Supervisor/Manager Learning & Development initiatives.
  • Assists the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer with managing the organization's Internship Program.


Employee Relations
  • Advisor for general employee relation issues (i.e., guidance for corrective action).


Performance Management
  • As directed by the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, provides support with tracking, etc.


Total Rewards (Benefits, Perks, etc.)
  • Manages the day-to-day administration of benefit programs (i.e., health insurance enrollments and terminations).
  • Supports annual Open Enrollment (as directed by the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer).
  • As directed by the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, supports total reward initiatives.


Employee Engagement and Retention
  • Conducts regular site visits to engage leadership and staff.
  • Assists the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer with Employee Feedback initiatives.
  • Chairs and/or participates in assigned Employee Committees and Workgroups.
  • Supports all Appreciation and Recognition initiatives (as directed by the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer).
  • Directly manages special functions (as directed by the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer).


Workplace Safety & Well-being
  • In conjunction with the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, manages Workers' Compensation Reporting and Tracking (i.e., workplace incident reporting, and OSHA tracking and reporting).
  • Supports workplace safety and well-being initiatives.


Payroll
  • Provides oversight and support for HR/payroll data entry.
  • Supports payroll processing, etc.


Other
  • Adheres to Friendship Place's employment, confidentiality, and code of ethics agreements.
  • Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education programs, seminars, and training programs.
  • Recommends equipment and supply needs of the Human Resources Department.
  • In the absence of the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer, provides leadership for the Human Resources Department.
  • Handles all other functions as needed by the Chief Talent, Diversity & Inclusion Officer.


Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree with three - five years, current,work experience as a Human Resources Generalist.
  • Current professional credentials from the HRCertification Institute (HRCI) and/or Society for Human Resource Management(SHRM) or must obtain certification within six (6) months of employment.
  • Working knowledge of current Federal and Stateemployment laws.
  • Valid driver's license, current auto insurance, andreliable transportation with the ability to travel within the DC Metro area(District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia).
  • Must be able to speak, read and write competentlyin English.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to maintain positive and professionalrelationships and interactions with our internal customers (employees, supervisors/managers,and leadership team), and external customers (regulatory agencies, etc.).

  • Prior multiple site HR support experience.


Physical and Environmental Requirements:

Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, fine hand coordination, ability to read and write in English, ability to communicate with employees and support agencies, and ability to remain calm under stress.

Background checks:

The selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check and/or fingerprinting.
