The National Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (NAMIC) has a new part-time opening for a Human Resource Administrator averaging 18-20 hours per week. This position provides human resource services to NAMIC and its affiliates with a focus on data entry and administrative activities that support hiring, onboarding, scheduling, communications, special programming for staff, and performance review/compensation administration.

 

Essential functions:

  • Recruiting: Assists with recruiting, including posting ads, scheduling phone interviews, scheduling pre-employment testing, and reference checking.
  • Onboarding/Offboarding: Assists HR team with scheduling and data entry to ensure efficient and effective onboarding/offboarding for all new employees.
  • Employee Programs: Assists with employee activities including wellness programs activities, office parties, and other miscellaneous activities such as Lunch & Learns, informative flyers, and more.
  • Compensation Administration:  Assists with drafting compensation memos and initiates paperwork for increases into payroll.
  • Record Keeping: Organizes and maintains all personnel files and recordkeeping (resume files, OMNI, HRIS) as needed for staff management and as required for compliance.
  • Employee Relations: Assists organizational efforts to establish a productive, professional, and pleasant work environment. To achieve positive employee relations and morale based on NAMIC values, and the creation of a positive reputation for NAMIC as an employer.
  • Special Projects: Completes other projects as assigned.

 

Knowledge, skills, and abilities needed include:

  • Eye for detail and conscientious attitude about doing things right the first time.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, including a positive customer service attitude.
  • Strong follow-up skills required.
  • Ability to handle confidential material in a professional manner.
  • Flexible about changing priorities and assisting where needed.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.

 

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Prior experience working in an administrative capacity is preferred.
  • Experience with Human Resources is a plus.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • All employees who have access to health information whose confidentiality is protected by the HIPAA Privacy Rule are required by the rule to receive training so that they have an understanding and knowledge of the rule that corresponds to their job responsibilities and of the group health plan’s policies and procedures that impact on their job duties. Training on the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule and the plan’s health information policies and procedures under the direction of the plan privacy officer is a prerequisite for this position. Employees who violate the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Rule will be subject to discipline, up to and including termination.
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check and maintain a clear status.
