Hello,   We are looking for a freelance HR consultant to work remotely for our company on an as-needed intermittent basis.  This work could be longterm if we and the consultant agree that we are a good fit.  Pay would be on an hourly basis.

I will provide a bit of background on our company and its personnel so that you can assess your interest in working with us.

Our firm was founded in the United Kingdom 15 years ago and is presently headquartered in Oxford, England, with offices in central London and an Asia Pac regional office in Singapore.  

Horus is a security consultancy providing a variety of services to large corporations, leading universities, international real estate development firms and airports/rail centers.  Our work is mainly office and computer based.  We do not provide services such as armed or unarmed security guards, executive protection, body guarding, etc.  Many of our senior personnel are former British military officers and former ranking police officers from the UK and Singapore.  However, our overall staff is very diverse and includes people with IT, financial and general business backgrounds.  

We are in the process of opening a regional office in the Austin area that will handle new work in North America. I will lead this office.  

Our HR consultant needs to be located in Texas and preferably in central Texas or Houston as I rotate between homes in Austin & Houston and because we intend to hire new staff in the central Texas area.  The consultant also needs to be familiar with Texas employment laws and the local workforce environment.  

The HR consultant can work from home at all times.  We have a small office in downtown Austin at which we will hold occasional meetings with clients and staff.

My contacts with the HR consultant will be by telephone, email and videoconference with the chance of occasional in-person meetings.  The consultant will deal mostly with me but also with personnel in Oxford via videoconference.  

Our first task is hiring two or three analytical personnel.  Therefore, our HR consultant needs to be familiar with recruitment, selection, onboarding and payroll processes.  We have engaged the national payroll firm Paychex to handle our payroll matters so that function is well in hand. Two law firms in Houston are handling legal matters for us including the development of employment agreements.  The lawyers will ensure that all our hiring processes and other HR functions are compliant with federal and state employment laws/regulations.
